(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): The owners of single-screen theaters in Kolkata on Sunday said that they are waiting for the notification of the central and state government to reopen the cinema hall. Theaters have been closed for more than six months due to the Covid-19 epidemic. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Saturday that theaters in the state will open from October 1.
The Chief Minister tweeted, “To make the situation normal, Jatra, drama, theater, cinema and all dance-music programs, magic shows will open from October 1 with an audience of 50 or less. Must follow the rules of social distance, wear masks, and other rules. Naveen Chokhani, owner of Navina Cinema in South Kolkata, said, “We are happy with the positive message but no official notification has been issued by the state or central government to open the cinema hall.”
Had said in his tweet that during a show there can be a maximum of 50 people. The explanation is needed in this regard as a hall can seat 500 people. ”Arijit Dutta, the owner of Priya Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which runs Priya Cinema on Rasbihari Avenue in South Kolkata, said that before opening the cinema hall, they were given notification by the Center. Awaiting Saurabh Bose, owner of Basushree Cinema in South Kolkata, said, “We are expecting permission to open the cinema hall from October 1”.
