(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): The Indian Medical Association (IMA) claims with one million people being infected by Covid-19, the population spread has begun and the condition is pretty bad. Dr. VK Monga, chairman of India’s IMA Hospital Board, said it’s now an exponential development. The number of cases is growing by more than around 30,000 per day. There are so many reasons linked to this so this is now expanding mainly to rural areas. It now indicates a community spread.
He further added that “The cases are penetrating down into towns and villages where it will be very difficult to control the situation. In Delhi, we were able to contain it, but what about interior parts of the country in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Goa and Madhya Pradesh (which may be the new hotspots)?”
This is an incredibly quickly circulating infectious disease. There are only two choices for controlling the disease. First, 70 % of the population catches the disease and remains resistant, while others seek immunization, Monga said.
