Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist): Lucknow: The Congress will appoint two presidents each in nine metros, including Lucknow and Kanpur. A proposal has been sent to the party high command in this regard. However, voices within the party have started to protest against this decision. Opponents say that having two presidents in a city will increase disputes rather than work.

According to party sources, the proposal has been sent to the high command through the national secretaries who are responsible for UP. In the first phase, two presidents will be made in the metros of Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Bareilly, Agra, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Saharanpur and Varanasi. For this, the metropolis will be divided into two parts on the basis of wards.

The party believes that in metros, a president is not able to work. Having two presidents will speed up organizational activities. It will help to reach the organization to the booth level. However, no leader is ready to speak publicly about this proposal. A section within the party is opposing the proposal.

Leaders of this faction say that the Youth and Women’s Congress and the NSUI organization were divided into four parts in the state, but it did not get the expected results. Having two presidents in the same city will increase the contradictions. It will be difficult to work due to increasing mutual conflict. Its results will not be pleasant in terms of party organization.
