(Juhi Aishwary, Journalist): With the monsoon, the risk of dengue has increased in a large part of the country. Scientists have expressed caution about the mosquito-borne disease dengue in the Corona period, with serious concern. Scientists say that the outbreak of dengue may increase the corona crisis and if this happens, it will be difficult for existing health facilities to handle patients.

Some symptoms of both diseases are the same as if infected with both viruses cause’s high fever and pain in the head and body. But for this, different tests have to be done. Coronas can be very difficult for dengue patients. With the coming of both diseases, not only will the number of patients increase, but the death toll will also increase rapidly.

So far, more than eight lakhs patients of Corona have been reported in the country. More than 22 thousand people have died from this epidemic. The number of dengue patients has also started increasing. Viralist Shaheed Jameel says on the basis of 2016-19 data, about one to two lakhs dengue cases are found every year. According to the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP) in 2019, 1, 36,422 dengue cases were reported and 132 people died.

Jamil says that the dengue virus is endemic. Dengue patients are found almost every year in South India. But in North India, the virus spreads during the monsoon and the onset of a cold. Virologist Upasana Ray says that if the outbreak of both diseases increases, it will be very difficult. There is already a shortage of beds in hospitals due to the Corona crisis, so it will be difficult to provide medical facilities to dengue patients. Ray stated that there is no vaccine for both viruses nor is there any specific anti-viral treatment. That’s why Ray says that we have to prepare very carefully because the time has come for the dengue outbreak to grow.
