From next week in Goa, the treatment of serious patients of Covid-19 will be started through blood plasma therapy. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has given information about this on Wednesday. Sawant said that the Health Department is in the process of building a plasma storage facility in the existing blood bank. Speaking to reporters here, Sawant said, “We are procuring a plasmapheresis machine, which will treat corona patients with plasma obtained from individuals recovering from Covid-19. This treatment starts next week. Will be done.”
The Chief Minister said that for this, special pathologists and doctors specializing in transfusion will be appointed on the basis of a contract. Sawant said, “We have asked Health Secretary Nila Mohanan to start the process of hiring the necessary personnel.” Sawant said that the State Government’s Blood Bank is being upgraded to store plasma for future use. “We will freeze blood plasma units in the freezer in our blood bank so that it can be used in the coming times,” he said. Blood plasma therapy has proved to be successful in Kerala in acute condition due to corona. Due to this, the Health Department is in touch with Kerala in view of the increasing Covid-19 cases in Goa. There are currently 759 active cases of corona in the state.
More than 22 thousand cases in the country in one day
More than 22 thousand cases of corona have been reported in India on Tuesday, after which the total number of corona infects in the country has crossed the 7 lakh mark. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of infected have reached 7,19,665 with 22,252 new cases in the country. Apart from this, 467 people have also died due to corona in 24 hours, with the total number of people dying from corona in the country has reached 20,160.
