(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) Mumbai: The situation in the capital of Maharashtra, which was most affected by Corona, is now improving rapidly. According to statistics, despite the number of cases of Covid-19 being close to one lakh, the recovery rate in the financial capital of the country is about 70 percent. This is seven percent higher than the national average.
Covid-19 cases in the country were 3,42,756 and the number of cured patients was around 6.35 lakh which is 63 percent of the cases reported.
The recovery rate in Mumbai is about 15 percent higher than Maharashtra which is 55.62 percent.
The recovery rate from Covid-19 in Mumbai was around 50 percent by mid-June when BMC launched ‘Mission Zero’ as a quick action plan to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. The rate improved to 57 percent on 1 July and further increased to around 70 percent on 15 July.
The city also includes Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum with a population of around 6.5 lakhs, which has emerged as one of the Covid-19 hotspots in the metropolis. There were only 102 under-reported cases on Friday.
