Corona screening of more than 4.2 lakh people

(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) India has gradually increased its testing capacity for corona virus and more than 4.20 lakh tests have been done in a single day. At the same time, the rate of people dying has dropped drastically.

The Union Health Ministry said on Saturday that, “this was possible due to the increase in the number of laboratories. About 16 million samples have been tested so far. The rate of people dying from corona has decreased significantly. The corona mortality rate in the country has now come down to 2.35 percent.”

India had only one laboratory to test samples for the disease in January, but now the number has increased to 1,301, including private laboratories. The revised guidelines by the ICMR and all-round efforts by the states have aided in extensive testing.

As of Friday, a total of 1,58,49,068 trials had been conducted for the corona in the country. The ministry said that, “India conducted 3.50 lakh tests every day in the last one week. With 4,20,898 samples being tested in the last 24 hours, the test per million (TPM) has risen to 11,485 and is maintaining an upward trend.”

With the increase in testing of samples for Corona, the death rate on Saturday has come down to 2.35 percent and the health rate has increased to 63.54 percent. The Ministry of Health said, India has one of the lowest mortality rates in the world.
