(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): The state government has become stricter due to the sharp increase in the number of cases of corona virus in Maharashtra. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has warned that if people do not follow security measures, it could trigger second wave like tsunami.
Easing means the epidemic is not gone
In fact, Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday appealed to the people of the state not to reduce their precautions against covid-19 and strictly follow health safety rules to avoid another lockdown. The Chief Minister said that although he has been advised to impose a night curfew, he does not believe that anything can be achieved by implementing such restrictions. He said that loosening the conditions of lockdown does not mean that the epidemic has gone, so people need to be careful.
During a webcast, the Chief Minister said that although people are following the covid-19 security rules on a large scale, many are still not following the instructions to apply masks and roam around crowded places.
CM said, ‘The fast-growing cases in Delhi are a matter of concern, and a curfew was also imposed in Ahmedabad. I do not want a second lockdown but you too should understand the seriousness of the situation. I have been advised to impose a night curfew but I believe that nothing can be achieved with such restrictions. ‘
Thackeray said, ‘I thank you for celebrating the fireworks-free Diwali. I express my disappointment that covid-19 prevention regulations are not being followed in many places. I advise you to avoid unnecessary movement here and there and if you have to go out, then please make a mask and walk with each other. ‘
More than five thousand cases were reported in Maharashtra for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday. On Sunday, 5,753 new infection cases were reported in the state. Mumbai accounted for 20 percent of the new infections reported on Sunday, with 1,135 new cases reported. So far 17,80,208 cases of corona have been reported in Maharashtra.
