(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: The court has challenged the Delhi Police’s decision to absolve foreigners in the Tablighi Jamaat case. The court has sought response from 36 foreign nationals who have been discharged on the plea of the police. Additional Sessions Judge Sandeep Yadav of Saket Court hearing the petition issued notices to 36 foreign nationals.
The court directed them to file their reply by 23 October next hearing in the case. The Delhi Police has said in the petition that the magistrate court accused these foreigners of illegally joining the Tablighi Jamaat, violation of visa rules, violation of government orders on the Corona epidemic, and violation of rules applicable to prevent the covid-19 epidemic.
Police said that these foreigners should not be freed from the charges. Delhi Police said that charges should be framed against them even in those sections in which they were not framed. The court had on August 24 framed charges against them in other sections. They were acquitted under a settlement petition. The Tablighi Jamaat held in March in Nizamuddin Markaz illegally participated in the indigenous and foreign Jamaat. On receiving the news of this, the police detained more than 900 foreign nationals. They were also quarantined after this, but they were included in the court proceedings after the Corona report came negative. So far almost all other foreign nationals have been acquitted.
