According to the data released by the Union home ministry data in the 24 hours to Monday, the country recorded 1,138 new covid deaths. Till 7 pm Monday the country recorded 80,011 fatalities, the third-highest in the world after the United States and Brazil.
The first death due to coronavirus in India was reported on March 12, in South India. Maharashtra continued to be badly affected as it has reported the highest number of deaths in the country, with 416 patients succumbing to the virus.
