(Rishitha Jaladi, Intern Journalist)Hyderabad: Director Nishikant Kamat was on ventilator support for the past week in Hyderabad. He was well-known for the Hindi remake of Malayalam hit Drishyam in 2015. Nishikant made his directorial debut with Marathi film, Dombivali Fast, in 2005 which won a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi.

He directed the Hindi remake of Malayalam hit Drishyam, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu in 2015. He also directed Force, Rocky Handsome, and Madaari. The director also appeared as an actor in Rocky Handsome, Julie 2, Bhavesh Joshi, and Saatchya Aat Gharat (Marathi). Nishikant made a very important film called Mumbai Meri Jaan on the Mumbai Bomb blasts that must be rediscovered.

He was admitted to AIG hospitals on 31st July, with complaints of fever and excessive fatigue. It was diagnosed that he was suffering from liver cirrhosis for the past two years. Anti-biotics and supportive medication was given initially, but his health condition deteriorated with progressive liver dysfunction and drowsiness, which has eventually lead to multiple organ failure. Cinema Industry, fans, and friends extended their condolences to Nishikant.
