(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: The Delhi State Legal Services Authority on Thursday informed the Delhi High Court that the condition of basic facilities In The Rain shelters run by the Urban Shelter Improvement Board in the national capital is below satisfactory levels. DSLSA said that the rain shelters lack sanitizer, mask, first aid, bed and there is also a shortage of toilets.
Management is also not good in cleanliness. On August 18th a bench of justice Heena Kohli and justice S Prasad directed The DSLSA to find out whether to release hunger relief camps for those using the rain shelters run by Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board is required. This is the fact in the status report presented in the direction of the court.
The bench’s 18 August directive was issued on a petition filed by the NGO Rozi Roti rights act. The petition requested that the Delhi government be directed to Resume the scheme to provide draught ration under the chief Minister’s Corona assistance scheme or any other scheme. After inspecting 54-night Shelters across the city, DSLSA said in its report that it should be seen and noted that’s the condition of some of the night shelters is not satisfactory from the standpoint of the state of infrastructure, especially at the present time when the country is facing an epidemic.
