(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) can be transferred in different districts of Uttar Pradesh deployed three years or more at one place. A list of such police officers is being made at the DGP headquarters. Their number is likely to be over 300.
The deployment of DSPs in districts is usually in the rank of Jurisdiction (CO). In both the Police Commissionerates, the post of CO is posted as Assistant Commissioner of Police. In addition to the SP or SSP rank police captains in the districts, the police officers posted at the rank of ASP Nagar or ASP at the level of Additional Superintendent of Police are transferred but the transfer of DSP is not possible. Despite complaints in many districts, these officers are not transferred.
According to sources, complaints are also being tested at the DGP Headquarters which are being received from time to time against DSP level officers. Apart from this, confidential reports are also being sought from the districts about DSPs deployed for a long time. Due to prolonged deployment in the same district, fairness is also likely to be affected. For this reason, it is believed that DSPs having a long tenure in the districts can be removed.
