(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist): In the first match of the T20 series played between Australia and England, the Kangaroos lost by 2 runs. It was the first time since March in Southampton that the Australian team landed on the ground. In the match, Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. England’s team came out to bat first and scored 162 runs after losing 7 wickets, in response, the Australian team could only manage 160 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
The Australian team got off to a great start by hitting 163 runs. David Warner and Aron Finch added 98 runs for the first wicket. Warner’s bat scored 58 runs while Finch scored 46 runs. The Australian team needed 39 runs from 36 balls at one time and its 9 wickets were safe, but the last over was hosted by hosts England by 2 runs. David Malan was adjudged ‘Man of the Match’ for his outstanding batting. The second match of the series will be played on 6 September.
