(Priyanka Gupta, Intern Journalist)Brussels: Angered by Britain’s unilateral withdrawal from the Brexit Agreement, the European Union (EU) on Thursday began the process of legal action against it. The EU has said that on January 31, Britain signed an agreement to separate from the group. The agreement was binding on both sides. But a few weeks ago, the UK broke the agreement by creating a law called the UK Internal Bill. It is a matter of breaking trust. European Union and UK relations are now reaching their worst phase. The EU has begun the process for legal action against Britain on the terms of Brexit.
According to the earlier Brexit Agreement, the two sides had to enter into a trade agreement before December 31, 2020. But Britain accused the EU of pressuring them during negotiations for a trade deal. It said that the UK and Ireland’s interests would be severely hurt if the EU agreed to a trade agreement. The UK wants to enter into free trade agreements with EU member states, for which the EU is not prepared. After this, the Government of Boris Johnson brought the UK Internal Market Bill to Parliament and got it passed. The whole process left the EU speechless.
Britain’s plan to break the trust of Brexit agreement
European Commission President Ursula von der Lien has said that Britain’s plan is to break the trust of the Brexit Agreement. If implemented, all kinds of contradictions will arise. It was believed that the opposition Labor Party would not support the government due to the violation of international law, but this did not happen. The government was successful in getting the bill passed in Parliament easily. After this, the EU decided to take legal action.
