(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) A blast took place late last night in gunpowder and fireworks in Mathura town of Surir. The two-story house collapsed in the blast. Nearly half a dozen houses were also damaged. One youth was killed while six people were injured due to being buried under the rubble of the house. Police and villagers who reached the spot took the people buried in the debris and brought them to the hospital.

Behind Kotwali in town Surir, Mohalla Thok Kalan had fireworks license in the name of Baba Gangaram of Jogendra Singh. The license was revoked after Gangaram’s death, but Jogendra was secretly making fireworks. Looking close to the festival of Deepawali, he had illegally stored ammo and fireworks to make crackers in the house itself. 

At about one o’clock on Friday night, there was an explosion in gunpowder and fireworks on the second floor of the house. The two-story house collapsed with a loud explosion. The houses of Bobby Joshi, Jawahar, and Brijkishore also collapsed due to its grip. Whose debris got screamed by being buried. 

People and surrounding police reached the area after hearing the loud banging. With the help of JCB, debris was removed and people buried in it were sent to the hospital. Where Jogendra (25) died during treatment. Six people are injured.  

On the information of this accident, the officials including SDM and CO went to the spot to investigate and gave directions to the police. SP Dehat Shrish Chand told that “there has been an explosion due to fireworks storage. One youth was killed, while six were injured. Three have been discharged after first aid. A case has been filed in the case.”
