(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: Eminent poet, journalist, and Sahitya Academy Awardee Manglesh Dabral died on Wednesday from Coronavirus infection. He was 72 years old. Dabral, who was hit by a Coronavirus infection about 12 days ago, breathed his last at AIIMS. “He was admitted to a private hospital in Vasundhara, Ghaziabad for the last few days and was admitted to AIIMS for treatment after his condition deteriorated,” said Sanjay Joshi, who was associated with and close to the Jansankriti Manch.

Originally a resident of Uttarakhand, Dabral was also the national vice-president of the Janskrishti Manch. Joshi said that both Raghubir Sahai and Manglesh Dabral had a career in journalism, but their own creation was in poetry. Apart from the displacement of the mountain, he wrote a lot about urban life. He was associated with Pratipaksha, Poorvigraha, Amrit Prabhat, etc. magazines and worked in Jansatta for a long time. His famous works include ‘Lantern on the Mountain’, ‘Ghar Ka Rasta’, ‘Naye Yug Mein Shatru’, ‘Ek Bar Ayowa’ etc. In addition to the Sahitya Akademi Award, Dabral was awarded the Shamsher Samman, Smriti Samman, Pahl Samman, and the Sahityakar Samman of the Hindi Academy Delhi.
