Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist): On Monday evening, before the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi targeted PM Modi on the agriculture bill. He lashed out at the Modi government and said that the farmers had asked for the market but the Modi government stopped the recession.
He cited media reports that like Punjab and Haryana, farmers of Bihar also want more mandis. He wrote in tweeting, “The farmers of the country asked for the market, the PM caused a terrible recession”. Rahul Gandhi also targeted the central government’s decision to give the responsibility of maintenance of Lucknow and Mangaluru airports to the Adani group, he wrote on Twitter, “Development is going on, but only a few capitalist ‘friends’.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi also took a dig at the Modi government via Twitter, writing, “BJP’s gift of Diwali to the public: terrible inflation.” BJP’s Diwali gift to its capitalist friend: 6 Airport. With the capitalists, development of the capitalists ”.
In another tweet, targeting Priyanka Gandhi on inflation, Priyanka Gandhi wrote, “In the last year, prices of potatoes have increased by almost 100% and onions by 50%. While the public is suffering due to the rising prices of vegetables, the farmers who grow them do not get their prices and the debt burden is increasing on them. This government is the enemy of farmers, the poor, and the middle class.
On the other hand, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also said that the agricultural law is wrong and not a reform. We raised this in the House. He said that “In 2006, the abolition of the APMC Act in Bihar did not benefit the farmers and now the Modi government is repeating it.”
