(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Lucknow : The guards of 25 sensitive prisons of the state, including the district jail of Lucknow, will do duty by wearing body warne cameras. The committee constituted under the chairmanship of DG Anand Kumar has approved the installation of body warn cameras (BWC) in these jails. It will also record voice with visuals, which will be recorded from the control room.
A week ago, the central government gave permission to install body warnered cameras under the pilot project in jails of Rajasthan, Telangana and Punjab including UP. UP will get Rs 80 lakh for this. DG says that if the money is saved after installing cameras in 25 prisons, then in the second phase, cameras will be installed in the remaining jails. The committee consists of Additional Inspector General Dr. Sharad, besides Research Officer KB Joshi, DIG and Senior Superintendent.
DG Anand Kumar explains that the captives in the room will be helped to understand their mood and depression as well as their creative work.With the help of psychologists, psychiatrists, forensic experts, the mood of prisoners will be analyzed and tested. By studying the behavior of prisoners, with the help of the suggested measures, they will help in removing the criminal tendency. The videos will also be shown to the relatives of the prisoners so that they can explain them as well. There are 25 jails including Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Bareilly, Prayagraj, Moradabad, Sultanpur, Agra, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Pratapgarh, Noida, Ghaziabad, Fatehgarh, Etawah, Sitapur, Baghpat, Mathura. These prisons will have body warnered cameras in the first phase.
