Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist) The Finance Ministry has decided to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns. The deadline for individual taxpayers to file income tax returns for the financial year 2019-20 has been extended to 31 December 2020. The Finance Ministry gave this information on Saturday. Earlier, the last date for filing returns for taxpayers was 30 November.
Explain that the Central Government in May had extended the deadline for filing ITR for the financial year 2019-20 from 31 July to 30 November 2020. The CBDT then said in its order that this decision has been taken in view of the problems faced by taxpayers due to the Coronavirus crisis.
The date for filing the delayed or revised ITR for the assessment year 2019-20 was increased from 30 September 2020 to 30 November 2020. For the fourth time deadline has been extended by the government to file income tax returns due to the Corona crisis.
Earlier, in March, the government had extended the deadline from 31 March 2020 to 30 June 2020. This was later extended to 31 July 2020 and then to 30 September 2020.
