Saloni Subha (Intern Journalist) A private doctor of Gaya died due to Covid-19 in Bihar on Monday, the reported death of a doctor in Bihar due to fast-spreading contagion which infected 1,116 people on Monday.
Dr.ashwini Kumar Nandkuliar (57) who died at AIIMs Patna on Monday evening. He was on a ventilator. According to Dr. Sanjeev Kumar ( nodal officer for COVID-19 at the hospital) The doctor was admitted on AIIMs on July 2.
This is the first reported death of a doctor due to Covid-19. Another doctor from the NMCH is critical at the AIIMs, informed Dr. Sunil Kumar Singh Singh, Secretary of the IMA-Bihar.
The Bihar govt. has refused from giving information regarding the number of health care infected by the virus in Bihar. The IMA-BIHAR however puts it above 200.
A doctor can start a hunger strike if the government will not agree to the demand of testing doctors at regular intervals, said doctor Singh.”Also, 50% of beds at AIIMs should be reserved for medicos. This is because NMCH is dedicated COVID-19 hospital has33 vacant posts of residents in the anesthesiology department, necessary to run the critical care unit”.
