This method emerged as a new hope in the country’s medical scientists to combat the epidemic. After this, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) also approved it.

Dr. Vedprakash, President, Department of Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine, KGMU, had sent a proposal to treat Dr. Convulsant Plasma with Dr. Tulika Chandra, Chairperson, Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine. After this, the initiative started in other states as well.

Antibodies in plasma of cured patients

According to Dr. Tulika Chandra, Lakhimpur resident Umashankar Pandey was treated at KGMU. He was approached, he came to KGMU on Saturday to deliver plasma. Dr. Tausif Khan, a resident of the institute, also went ahead for plasma donate. Everyone’s corona test was repeated. Apart from this, all the tests including Hepatitis, HIV were done. Plasma was removed and stored when the report was found correct. Antibodies available in plasma were confirmed with a rapidly based antibody kit. At the same time, the amount of antibody, it will be known only when the titer kit arrives. Vice Chancellors Prof. MLB Bhatt and Dr. D. Himanshu were present during the plasma donation at KGMU.
