(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): The second chartered flight carrying 130 passengers stranded in Dubai due to the covid-19 epidemic will arrive here on Wednesday. Sponsors said that the IndiGo flight will leave from Dubai airport on Wednesday morning and reach Kolkata by noon. This is the second flight partially sponsored by the Dubai branch of St. Xavier’s College Calcutta Alumni Association.

Saptarshi Dutta, secretary of the association, said that out of the 130 passengers returning from Dubai, 80 will leave for North Bengal and Sikkim on the onward journey. The organization will bear the entire cost of travel from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport to their destinations. He informed that this time the organization has fully sponsored 50 tickets for those who have lost employment. For those who are not able to pay the full ticket money, the organization is partially sponsoring the trip. Datta said that the passengers would include two pregnant women and 10 senior citizens. The first flight sponsored by the association returned from UAE on July 5 carrying 174 passengers.
