(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): The destruction caused by the breaking of the Tirhut embankment on Sunday morning near Muhammadpur Kothi of Muraul division could not be controlled even now that the Baya river embankment in Saraiya block was broken. Villagers are unsuccessfully trying to repair the embankment. After the information, the team of officials have left for the spot. The flood water is spreading towards Motipur – Jaitpur State Highway. The water is likely to spill into the Rewa Road. People are moving to safer places.
Relief and rescue operations have been intensified following the breakdown of Mohammadpur Kothi embankment. A team of laborers, led by engineers, are engaged in dam repairs. Meanwhile, two teams of NDRF have reached the area and took over the relief and rescue operations. District Disaster Management Officer Atul Kumar Verma said that relief and rescue work is going on. People have been evacuated to safer places. The situation is being monitored. On the other hand, DPRO Kamal Singh said that after the Mohammadpur Kothi embankment broke, the flood water is flowing towards Sakra via Pilkhi, Dharmagatpur, Juravanpatti, Shiho. Told that there is no need to panic.
