(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist) The atmosphere of the festive season has somewhat faded this year due to the Corona epidemic. There are pandals of Durga Utsav in many places in the country but it is not the beauty that used to be. Many Durgotsava committees have decided not to put a pandal on the Durga festival due to the Corona epidemic.
Nearly 50 societies, including Chittaranjan Kali Mandir Society, which houses the largest Durga pandal in the capital, Delhi, have decided to ‘not celebrate the festival ceremoniously’ this time running covid-19. This is the first time in 47 years that this society of South Delhi has decided not to celebrate the annual fortification on a large scale. A decision in this regard was taken on Monday in a meeting with the local administration of 12 such committees. Every year around 50 puja pandals are made here.
It was kept in mind that a large section of the population in the area, many of the members of the specially organized committee are senior citizens and are more at risk of getting corona infection. Other small committees have also decided to follow this decision.
