(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Gandhi Nagar: Former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel (KeshuBhai Patel) died on Thursday. He was admitted to the hospital after breathing difficulties. In 2014, 92-year-old Patel announced his retirement from politics. Keshubhai Corona was found positive last month. Keshubhai was recently made the president of the Somnath Temple Trust. Keshu Bhai was the Chief Minister of Gujarat twice but never completed his term.
In 2001, Narendra Modi was sworn in as CM in his place. Modi also considers Keshubhai Patel as his guru. His relations with BJP continued to deteriorate. He had to resign seven months after becoming Chief Minister for the first time due to a dispute with Shankarsinh Vaghela. He was later re-elected Chief Minister in 1998 but stepped down in 2001. It was believed that he had to resign due to corruption and mismanagement during the Bhuj earthquake. Since then, there has been a bit of bitterness in his relationship with the party. He did not even contest elections in 2002 and indirectly supported the Congress in 2007. He finally resigned from the party in 2012 and formed a separate party. But in 2014, he again joined BJP.
