(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): Former Governor of Nagaland and former CBI Director Ashwani Kumar committed suicide by hanging himself on Wednesday. According to police sources, the body of former IPS officer Ashwani Kumar was found hanging in his residence in Brakhast, Shimla. The police team led by SP Shimla Mohit Chawla is investigating the case. Police also recovered a suicide note from the scene. It has been written that is fed up with life, I am leaving for the next journey. In the suicide note, he mentions taking steps of suicide by getting fed up with the disease. Also said to donate their organs. Everyone is shocked by this incident of suicide.

Ashwani Kumar, 70, was born in Nahan, the district headquarters of Sirmaur. He was an IPS officer and also held various positions in CBI and Elite SPG. He was also the DGP of Himachal from 2006 to 2008. He was the director of the CBI between August 2008 and November 2010. He was the first head of the CBI, who was later made the Governor. In March 2013, he was appointed as the Governor of Nagaland. However, in the year 2014, he resigned from his post. After this, he was also the Vice-Chancellor of a private university in Shimla.

At the same time, a wave of mourning has raged in Sirmaur district after the news of former Governor Ashwani Kumar’s suicide. Ashwani Kumar, who belongs to Nahan, the headquarters of Sirmaur district, was a very sociable and quiet person. His residence is located on the banks of the historic Pakka Pond in Nahan. He was educated at Shamsher School Nahan.

Former DGP ID Bhandari said that Ashwani Kumar was a role model for him. He was very hardworking. He was also his SP. He joined them around 1984. He was an honest and hardworking man. This is a very sad thing. It is like a shock for them. Former DGP DS Manhas also expressed grief over his leaving the body in this way. He said that this is a very unfortunate incident. Former ADGP KC Sadayal also said that it is a very sad case.
