(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): Former South Korean President Lee Myung-bak has been sent back to jail on the orders of the Supreme Court after coming out on bail twice. During the 2008 to 2013 rule on the former President, corruption and cases of taking bribe from many big companies were going on in the court.

He was sentenced to 15 years in 2008 by the trial court. He was sent to jail but later came out on bail twice on orders from other courts.
This time the Supreme Court has sentenced him to 17 years in the ongoing lawsuits. It may be noted that during the five-year tenure of Lee Myung Bak, there were tremendous agitations all over the country when corruption cases were exposed. The economic situation had also deteriorated.
