(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): The Government of West Bengal on Monday changed the state for the fourth time in full lockdown dates to be implemented during August. The government has separated from this scope on all Sundays. According to the government order, according to the new changes, the lockdown will remain in force on August 20 and 21 and August 27 and 28. Earlier its dates were declared 16 and 17 August and 23 and 24 August.
However, no other lockdown dates such as five, eight, and 31 August have been changed. This is the fourth time the state government has changed the dates of full lockdown. before this, The change of dates was announced three times on 28 July.
There was a demand from various communities to change the dates in view of the festivals. This time too, changes have been made due to the demand for relaxation in lockdown on certain dates. “We have taken this decision to partially amend the order keeping in view the requests received and considering the sentiments of the public,” said the order issued by the state’s chief secretary Rajiv Sinha.
In the latest order, the state government has withdrawn the order of lockdown which came into force on Sunday, which was proposed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Opposition parties targeted the ruling Trinamool Congress over the change in lockdown dates and said the state government had failed to deal with the Covid-19 crisis. BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha said, ” The state government has not only failed but is also unclear about how to proceed. The state government could have changed the dates but it did not consider our request to change the date of August 5. There is a Bhoomi Pujan in Ayodhya for the construction of Ram temple on that day, ”said CPI Legislature Party leader Sujan Chakraborty.
