(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): The central government extended the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till November. More than 80 crore beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act will be provided free grain for the next five months. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on Tuesday announced the expansion of the scheme. Addressing the country, the PM said that after July, the atmosphere of festivals starts. At this time, both needs and expenses increase. Keeping all these things in mind, the government has expanded the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till Diwali and Chhath puja. Every person will be given five kilograms of wheat or rice per month free of cost under the scheme. Apart from this, every family will be given 1 kilogram of gram. A kilo of pulses has been distributed to every family under this scheme till April, May and June.
