(Bhagya Luxmi, Intern Journalist) The Ganga-Yamuna stream intensified on Tuesday in Prayagraj. An increase in the water level of the Ganges by 24 cm in twenty-four hours increased the concern. Similarly, water pressure in the Yamuna has also increased. This led to hundreds of outposts and shops of puja-prasad from Sangam to Key Road and Akshayavat Marg. Goods were transported to safe places throughout the day. The process of withdrawing shops started. Due to the speed of the stream, the boats have been removed from the Sangam and are now tied towards the VIP ghat.

The monsoon rain leads to a rise in Ganga and tributaries. The Ganga’s water level continued to rise at a speed of two cm per hour on Tuesday. Although still about 10 meters away from the danger mark, it is being said that if the flow continues like this, it may have to face premature flooding this time.

According to the bulletin issued by the control room of the irrigation flood section at 6 pm on Tuesday evening, the water level of Ganga in Phaphamau recorded 77.89 meters. Similarly, the water level of Ganga in Chhatnag was 73.71 meters, while the level of Yamuna in Naini was 74.22 meters. Ramghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Kali Ghat, Mahavir Ghat, in addition to the Sangam, caused chaos throughout the day due to an increase in water level. People kept removing checkpoints and thatch from horse carriages and trolleys.
