The Chinese government is collecting DNA samples of crores of people across the country. A genetic database is being prepared with the help of DNA. The Jinping government’s intention behind this is to monitor its own people.
Emil Durk, Ph.D. student of political science at the University of Toronto and James Liebolt, an expert on ethnic issues in China, wrote an article in the New York Times. He said that dissatisfaction with the government is the biggest crime in China. The most important task of the police is to suppress this discontent. Because of this, a conspiracy is being done to collect DNA samples and monitor people.
According to him, the target of the officers is to collect DNA samples of 30 million to seven crore people. These samples will become a major weapon of the government. Through these, the Chinese administration will be able to track people easily. However, the Chinese government has denied any such programs.
Evidence that exists online
The authors have extensively revealed this program in China. They have also shown evidence of this. A June 16 report has been found on the official website of China’s Sichuan Province. It contains information on the preparation of a DNA database by the Public Security Bureau in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan. This report describes how 17 public security offices collected DNA samples of six lakh men in the city. Along with this, blood samples of school children are also being collected. This is a direct violation of the UN’s Rights of the Child.
DNA samples are being collected from all over the country
According to the article, this program of China is not limited to Xinjiang and Tibet only. DNA of people is being collected from all over the country. The program is being run extensively in Yunnan and Guizhou in the southwest, Hunan in the center, Shandong and Jiangsu in the east, and in the autonomous region of Mongolia in the north.
