Jagriti Rai (intern journalist), Global day for persons with disabilities is on 3rd December. The day was proclaimed in 1992 for the inclusion of the disabled.
It is a fact that covid 19 has exposed and deepened existing equality in the world and the only way the world can beat this virus is by taking each and every person along.
One billion people in the world are estimated to be living with disabilities and their inclusion in the virus recovery process is essential. The United Nation reports that the person with disabilities is one of the hardest-hit groups during this pandemic in terms of fertility by a virus.
Even under normal circumstances persons with disabilities do not also have excess to health care and education and employment and they are underrepresented in committees, this will only be deepened by the Coronavirus. Unless society and government proactively ensure that they are not left behind.
The annual observance of the international day of disabled persons was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations general assembly.
It aims to promote the rights and we’ll be of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development and to increase awareness of the situation of person with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life.
