Globally Covid-19 cases cross 12.9 million,

Suparna Ghosh (Intern Journalist): The deadly pandemic has crossed its 12.9 million cases globally along with 569,000+ fatalities and almost more than 7.1 million recoveries according to the latest report from John Hopkins University.

At present, the United States is leading the chart of top coronavirus affected countries with a total of 3,455,929 to confirm Covid-19 cases and around 138,030 fatalities. Earlier on Saturday, President Donald Trump has been seen wearing a mask in the public for the very first time. Cases are seen reaching its heights fueled by sharp spikes in the southern and western states of Texas, Arizona, and California, and that accounts for nearly 30 percent of the rising caseload.

Next, second on the chart is Brazil having a sum of 1,867,841 confirm Covid-19 cases, with 72,234 deaths already. Health Ministry reports of Brazil states that more than a thousand fresh deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. The pandemic was reportedly said to have taken its start on 25 February 2020 here in Brazil.

Third, on the list comes to India surpassing Russia with almost 906,617 confirm Covid-19 cases and the figures of fatalities stand at 23,727 with almost 5,72,112 recoveries. The nation witnesses daily a spike of 28,000+ confirmed cases, which is topped by Maharashtra giving around 7,000+ cases every day. Also, the nation is currently undergoing Unlock 2 phase of the lockdown.

Mexico, on this Sunday, became the fourth highest country in case of rising fatalities, ahead of Italy already. The pandemic is hence taking a deadlier course in no time.
