Saloni Subha ( Intern Journalist ) Government buildings in Darbhanga are set to get a makeover with mythological characters, with cultural aspects of the region as well as the contemporary issue in the form of Mithila painting all these things are possible only because of the district magistrate’s initiative to tap the local talent and promote Mithila artwork.
The collectorate Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar auditorium and circuit House building are already being decorated with atheistic Mithila painting following the instructions of District Magistrate Thiyagaranjan SM.
The project was being executed with the help of the Union textile ministry’s council of Handicrafts Development Corporation which helps the grassroots organization, NGOs, self-help group organizations, NGOs self-help groups, and small entrepreneurs engaged in handicrafts and artworks.
A group of 40 artists has been working in small groups for over a month to draw these sketches. “All we did was request them to do it in a government building with a promise to provide them office spaces for painting works.” Said Thiyagaranjan.
