Rishika Iyer (Intern Journalist): The chief minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar was tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Monday. He has been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram and informed people through his twitter handle. Khattar attended a meeting with the Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who was tested positive for Covid-19 a week ago.

Haryana’s speaker Gian Chand Gupt and two other MLA’s tested positive for the virus. He had wished a speedy recovery to the speaker yesterday. Through his tweet, he asked everyone who had come in contact with him to get tested immediately and asked all close contacts to get quarantined immediately. 

He is not the first minister who has been infected with the virus. In the past, Home Minister Amit Shah, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have also been tested positive. The virus has also taken the lives of two ministers from Uttar Pradesh Kamala Rani Varun and Chetan Chauhan.
