(Juhi Aishwary, Journalist): India is engaged in further strengthening its surveillance capability amid tensions with China in eastern Ladakh. India plans to place orders from Israel for heron drones and spike anti-tank guided missiles. The Heron unmanned drone is already in the Indian Air Force. The Army’s surveillance and target acquisition batteries are being used by the Indian Army in the Ladakh region.

According to government sources, ‘Heron UAVs need to be acquired to add these drones to existing fleet to meet the needs of the Indian Air Force fleet, planning to order Israel to acquire these UAVs. ‘

Keeps eye on inaccessible areas from a height of 10 km

Please tell that Heron has been in the service of all three defense wings of India for many years and keeps an eye on inaccessible areas from a height of more than 10 kilometers. This drone can also fly continuously for more than two days.

The forces are also working towards inducting an armed version of the UAV. Also, under the ‘Project Cheetah’ sponsored by the Indian Air Force, the existing fleet is being upgraded to the existing UAVs.

Balakot was used in air strike attack

On the other hand, the army plans to place orders for more spike anti-tank guided missiles which were used in Pakistan’s Balakot airstrike attack last year. The last time the Indian Army received 12 launchers and 200 spike missiles from Israel.

According to sources, plans are being made to acquire these anti-tank missiles to deal with any enemy threat. Meanwhile, DRDO is developing indigenous man-portable anti-tech guided missiles (MP-ATGM), which will meet the bulk requirement of more than 50,000 of these missiles.
