(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed the plea to conduct Joint Law Entrance Examination (CLAT 2020) from home instead of examination centers due to the covid-19 pandemic. The court said that by doing so the possibility of disturbances in the examination cannot be ruled out.
The court said that proper technology, internet connection, laptop, or desktop computer is suspected not to be available for 7,800 candidates, hence the petition for the home examination cannot be accepted. CLAT 2020 was to be held on 22 August. Now, this exam will be held on 28 September. Justice Jayant Nath said that it is clarified that the petitioners’ petition is not correct. Based on this, neither the examination can be postponed nor the method of conducting the examination can be changed. Justice said, “Petitioner (V Govind Ramanan) completed LLB in 2016.
After a gap of four years, he now wants to take an examination for postgraduate studies in law. He waited four years to take the exam. There is no basis for this petition. It is dismissed. “The court passed the order on 10 September. It was made available on the court website on Wednesday. On the other hand, the Consortium of National Law University has issued the admit cards for the CLAT 2020 exam.
