(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Patna: The Patna High Court has said in an important order on Wednesday that in the election, political parties and its candidates can place promotional materials on their houses with the consent of the owner of the private houses. A single bench of Justice Ashutosh Kumar, after hearing the petition of BJP contractor Century Business Pvt Ltd, has directed the Bihar Chief Electoral Officer to allow the party’s banner, poster, and flag to be placed on private houses.

Senior advocate SD Sanjay told the court that the BJP had entrusted the contractor with the responsibility of putting promotional materials on private houses during the Bihar assembly elections. But the Chief Electoral Officer did not allow the contractor. Sanjay told the court that the Model Code of Conduct has been issued by the Election Commission. In it, along with the candidates, political parties have also been allowed to put promotional materials on private houses. But despite this, the Chief Electoral Officer is not giving permission. The court also gave this order after hearing Election Commission counsel Siddharth Prasad.
