Union Home Minister Amit Shah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday and made him aware of the suggestions of the Chief Ministers on whether to proceed with the lockdown or not. It is known that the fourth phase of the lockdown in the country is coming to an end on 31 May. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday spoke to all Chief Ministers to know their views on whether to increase the lockdown or not. During the talks, Shah also inquired from the Chief Ministers about the areas that the states want to open from June 1.

This was the first time since the lockdown was imposed in the country that this time, in place of PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assumed the responsibility of talking to the Chief Ministers. Earlier in the last days of every phase of the lockdown, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself knew his opinion from the Chief Ministers through video conferencing. However, the Union Home Minister was also present during the talks. According to the officials, in this telephonic conversation, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday and asked him whether to pursue the lockdown or not.
