Soumya Pandey, an IAS officer from Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh, returned to duty just 14 days after giving birth, much to everyone’s surprise. The gentle photo of her on duty with her daughter went viral on social media.
Busy pandemic works
Appointed SDM officer during the mild corona that says ‘it is the duty of all of us to do regular things during Covid – 19’. She came to the office with her three-week-old daughter, 14 days after delivery, and was busy with chores. Speaking about this- ‘Women in the village do all the household chores during pregnancy. In addition to those tasks after childbirth, child care is also done. Similarly, I can do administrative work with my three-week-old baby.
My family supported me in these situations. Tehsil, Ghaziabad District Administration is like a family to me. I was the SDM Officer in Ghaziabad from July to September. I got 22 days off during my operation in September. Two weeks after giving birth I joined the tehsil. Soumya Pandey suggested that every pregnant woman should take necessary precautions while working during this epidemic.
