Saloni Subha ( Intern Journalist ) The British Academy of Film andTelevision Arts has announced on Tuesday that actor Idris Elba will receive award this year .
According to the press release, the Luther star will be bestowed with the honor in recognition of his exceptional career and his commitment to championing diversity and new talent in the industry.
The Special Award is one of the BAFTA ‘s highest honor, with previous recipients for TV including Nicola Shindler, Clare Balding, John Motson, Henry Normal, Nick Fraser, Lenny Henry, Delia Smith, and Cilla Black.
Elba, also a writer and producer, will receive the award at the British Academy Television Awards on July 31.
