(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): In novel cases of coronavirus, India has reached the seven lakh-mark, with the 3,827 new cases registered on Monday evening bringing the cumulative number of cases in the country to 7,01,240. Of these, more than 2.5 lakh are active cases, and the number of deaths associated with the infection is 19,693.
It took only four days to report one lakh new COVID-19 case. On July 2nd the nation surpassed the six lakh-marks. India also edged past Russia on Sunday to become the third worst-hit nation. At this point, more COVID-19 cases were reported only by the United States and Brazil than by India. The US has nearly 29 lakh cases while Brazil has over 16 lakh cases.
