Indians will bring NewYork’s economy back on track

A commission has been formed to put the economy of New York Province on track to become the epicenter of the Corona epidemic in America. It also includes Indian physician Siddharth Mukherjee and higher educationist Satish Tripathi. Born in Delhi, Mukherjee won the Pulitzer Prize in 2011 for his book on cancer. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Sunday announced a 15-member commission headed by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

The 49-year-old Mukherjee, who was inducted into the commission, is also an assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. Born in India, Mukherjee is a hematologist and oncologist. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 2011 for ‘The Emperor of All Melodies: A Biography of Cancer’.


While Tripathi is the president of Buffalo University in New York. He graduated from BHU and has a master’s degree in three subjects, including computer science. One in computer science from the University of Toronto and two in Statistics from the University of Alberta and Banaras Hindu University.

The 15-member commission will include other eminent personalities such as Rockefeller Foundation President Richard Parsons, Ford Foundation President Darren Walker, Cornell University President Martha Pollack, and IBM President Ginni Romelty.
New York most affected by the epidemic

New York, the worst affected by the epidemic, has more than 3,70,000 people infected. More than 29 thousand have died. Cuomo said in April last, “We have incurred a loss of 15 billion dollars (about one lakh 13 thousand crore rupees) so far”. According to a recent report, about 1.2 million people in New York, with a population of around 20 million, have applied for unemployment benefits.
