This information has been provided by the latest official figures. This year Indian investment in US securities has seen a lot of ups and downs. It reached a record high of $ 177.5 billion in February. According to data from the US Department of Finance, India’s investment in US securities increased marginally to $ 157.4 billion in April. After that, it increased by $ 13 billion to reach $ 169.9 billion in May. In March, it fell sharply to $ 156.5 billion as against $ 177.5 billion in February.
India’s investment in US securities stood at $ 164.3 billion in January. The Reserve Bank of India purchases US government securities. India is the 12th largest holder of US securities, Japan ranks first in this list with $ 1,260 billion. By the end of May, China’s investment in US securities stood at $ 1,083 billion and was in second place. The UK ranks third with $ 393.5 billion. According to the data, Ireland ranks fourth in terms of investment in US securities followed by Brazil, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Cayman Islands, Belgium, and Taiwan respectively.
