(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) Sports-related activities in the country have come to a standstill for several months due to corona and lockdown. Sportspersons and sports organizations are waiting for the green signal from the government. On the other hand, the players have also started preparations to return to the field.
Joshna Chinappa is hoping to enter the court soon after being away from the game for nearly five months, although the national body of sports ruled out any activity until September due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
Last month, Cyrus Poncha, secretary and former national coach of the Indian Squash Racquet Federation, told that they do not think a tournament will be held before September. According to him, the possibility of resuming training at the Indian Squash Academy in Chennai is very low.
He said, ‘It is not easy, not being able to return to court. It will be five months before I go to court. I like to train at the academy. I hope that as a top athlete we will be able to train before September’.
Joshna said, ‘This is important because we are preparing for big tournaments (2022 Commonwealth Games and Asian Games). It is very important to stay connected with sports. We hope to get permission to play one hour a day in a controlled environment.
