(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); 63-year-old Kadar Sheikh, living in Surat, Gujarat, was found infected with corona a month ago. He got treatment in a private hospital by paying lakhs of rupees. After this, the real estate industrialist thought of those who cannot afford it. After being discharged from the hospital, Shaikh worked to convert his office space in the 30,000 sq ft office at Sheryam Complex into an 85 bed Covid-19 Center. In this, the poor will get oxygen facility for free. Sheikh signed an agreement with Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) to supply medical staff and equipment with 15 ICU beds in Adajan area of Surat.
Surat Municipal Commissioner BN Pani and SMC Deputy Health Commissioner Dr. Ashish Naik visited the campus and approved the proposal. After the infrastructure was ready on Tuesday, SMC Health Department officials visited the Hiba hospital named after Sheikh’s granddaughter and inspected the arrangements. Dr. Naik said, “We have looked at the campus and found it appropriate. In the next few days, the hospital will start working with patients referred from New Civil Hospital and SIMMER Hospital. ‘
