(Harleen Kaur, Intern Journalist) Srinagar, Political activities in Kashmir have intensified following the release of Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti. On Wednesday, Mehbooba held the first meeting with senior leaders after about one and a half years, while the National Conference (NC) President and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice-Chairman Omar Abdullah met Mehbooba. Mehbooba will be the leader who signed the secret declaration on August 4, 2019, at the important meeting to be held at Dr. Farooq’s residence on Thursday.
Significantly, Mehbooba, who was detained in the early hours of August 5, 2019, was released last night. In the morning, Mehbooba held a meeting with senior PDP leaders at the government residence on Gupkar Marg. In the two-hour meeting, Mehbooba said that everyone should be ready for the long battle. The situation in Kashmir and other issues were discussed. In the afternoon, Dr. Farooq met his son Umar with Mehbooba. For 40 minutes, the father and son discussed moving together against the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act and making the Gupakar Declaration a political agenda.
He invited Mehbooba for a meeting with leaders of all parties signing the manifesto on Thursday at 4 pm. Mehbooba has accepted. In the conversation, Omar said that he had gone to know the well-being of Mehbooba. Discussions have been held on various issues related to Jammu and Kashmir. Mehbooba will also attend the meeting on Thursday.
