(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): Reliance Jio has planned to launch a 5G smartphone for under Rs 5,000 and eventually reduce its price to Rs 2,500-Rs 3,000 when operation scales up. In July, Google announced a Rs 33,737-crore investment for a 7.7% stake in Jio Platforms. For the time being, Mukesh Ambani said that Jio and Google will build an Android-based operating system for ‘low-cost’ smartphones.
