(Sandhya Jha, Intern Journalist): On Monday, 4 terrorists were killed in an encounter in the Pinjora area in Shopian, Jammu, and Kashmir. The bodies and weapons of the four have been recovered. The operation is over. A search operation was launched by security forces on the information about the hideout of the terrorists. In response to the firing of terrorists, the security forces also had to fire.
The terrorists killed belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen
The names of two terrorists have been revealed. These include Omar Dhobi and Rais Khan. These A category terrorists were active since 2018. Omar was a resident of Pinjora. He was involved in the incident of firing on police personnel in Batgund Kapren in which 3 soldiers were killed. There were 10 FIRs against Omar in terrorist incidents. He was active in stone-pelting incidents on security forces. He was also involved in the kidnapping and murder of a truck driver from Rajasthan.
Rais Khan was a resident of Vheil Shopian. There were 5 FIRs against him. He was involved in firing incidents at Army camp and patrolling party in Shopian and killing 3 people. Rais was also involved in the terror attack in which Special Police Officer Khushboo Jan was killed.
Second encounter in 24 hours, 9 terrorists killed
On Sunday, security forces killed 5 militants in the Reban village of Shopian. The Hizbul commander of Pulwama and Kulgam, Farooq Ahmed Bhat alias Nali, was also killed in the encounter. He was included in the list of A ++ terrorists.
22 terrorists including 6 top commanders killed in 2 weeks
Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said that in the last two weeks, security forces killed 22 terrorists in 9 encounters. 6 of these were top commanders. So far this year, 88 terrorists have been killed in 36 operations. The DGP said that there could be 150-250 terrorists in the terrorist base on the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir area. There are estimated to be 125-150 militants in Jammu region.
6 encounters, 18 terrorists killed in 8 days
The Intelligence Agency warned of terrorist infiltration from Pakistan last month. After that the security forces have launched a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir.
